Guidelines for Direct Access Endoscopy

• A brief history and physical is performed by the gastroenterologist on the day of the procedure to determine the medical safety of the procedure, and to confirm the indication.

• A full consultation is not performed for Direct Access Endoscopy patients.

• Please keep in mind that when utilizing the Direct Access Endoscopy program, the referring physician will remain responsible for the clinical significance of any findings and for dispensing medical treatment or arranging subsequent referral or treatment.

• The Center for Gastroenterology is always available to provide you with advice when it is appropriate, and is available for discussion or consultation as needed.
